Telecommuting Jobs
There are countless telecommuting jobs that allow you to work from your home and make a good living. Today, more and more people are working from their own homes, doing work from their computer, telephone or both. Examples of telecommuting jobs include freelance writing, editing, medical coding/transcription, remote sales representatives, customer call center, virtual assistants and more.
"Telecommuting" itself isn't an actual job. This word simply means that you are doing a job from your home, so there are many occupations that can fall under the heading. As long as you are self-disciplined and can work without supervision, you may be a candidate for a home-based career.
Why these types of jobs are growing in popularity
Today, more and more people want to be in control of their own destiny rather than working to make someone else rich. With the explosive growth of the internet, opportunities to start a profitable business grow each and every day. People lead busy lives; working from home gives many the opportunity to “multi-task,” taking care of the household, children and other aspects of their lives while enjoying the ability to earn money without leaving the house.
Online, those who have a business need others who can perform a variety of tasks for them, such as writing articles, web pages and blogs, taking care of communications (email, telephone conferences, etc.) and even doing social networking for their business.
Many giant corporations also hire people to work from home in a customer care capacity, answering questions consumers may have and looking up information regarding warranties, etc. This is often more cost effective for these companies, as they do not have the huge overhead of having a central office along with utilities and other expenses.
Other popular telecommuting jobs include transcription and/or translation and programming. Graphic design is also in huge demand on the internet. Experienced web and software programmers are in huge demand, so if you have these skills you will find there is no shortage of work to be had.
The truth is, if you have any talent or special skill at all (writing, editing, graphic design, coding, programming, building websites), you can work from your home and make money. There are many industries today in which people work from home, including insurance sales, secretarial work, data entry and more.
Of course, not all work at home jobs involve the internet and offering your services. Many corporate employees work from their own homes either part time or full time. The point is, if you can perform your job from home, you can make money. If you can offer your own services rather than working for someone else, your opportunity to earn a lucrative income increases even more. Beware, though, that if you are the type who must have instruction or who is not motivated to work without supervision, telecommuting jobs are probably not for you. It takes someone who is dedicated and self-disciplined to do this type of work.
